Björn has always worked closely with pediatricians and in the 1970s they encouraged him to develop a baby carrier. New findings shed light on how important abundance of closeness is for newborns. Hjärtenära ("Close to the Heart") was introduced in 1973, offering parents in Europe the means to carry their babies safely on the chest.
During the 1980s, there was more and more talk about the important role that dads play in the lives of their little children. So dads were there for the first time in BabyBjörn's announcements, which was not entirely incontrovertible. But the dads were here to stay and the importance of both parents' proximity to their baby has always been a core concept for BabyBjörn.
Björn and Lillemor are passionate about improving their products. After years of development, shooting, testing and interviews, BabyBjörn was able to present Baby Carrier Original, which is now used all over the world. Lillemor, who wants to create unisex models suitable for both parents, has introduced a black baby carrier, a revolutionary concept in the baby products sector.
