At PUMA, we’re working to manage our impacts and improve our performance across ten key sustainability areas. By doing so, we’ll make better products, and contribute to a better environment and society. And as we make progress, we’ll keep raising the bar to new and higher levels.
We’ve identified 10 key areas where we know we can do better. And we’ve set ourselves ambitious targets to improve across these areas by 2025.

And working with our stakeholders, we’ve challenged ourselves to do better across 10 social and environmental areas where we have the biggest impact: Climate, Plastic & Oceans, Chemicals, Human Rights, Products, Health & Safety, Air & Water, Circularity, Fair Income, and Biodiversity.
In each of these areas, we’ve set clear targets to improve our performance by 2025. The targets will align our actions across our business, making sure that sustainability is integrated into every decision we make. And to ensure we’re leading from the front, sustainability targets are included in the bonus arrangements of every member of our leadership team globally.

Performance shouldn't come at social and environmental cost. One of our main ambitions to make our entire product range better by sourcing core materials from more sustainable sources.
90% of apparel and accessories to contain at least 50% sustainably sourced materials
90% of our footwear to contain at least one more sustainable component
Increase our use of recycled polyester for apparel and accessories to 75%
In 2020, 100% of the cotton we used was sustainably sourced (hitting our target five years early).
Material production accounts for more than 50% of our overall environmental impact.
As part of our 10for25 strategy, we’re aiming to increase the proportion of sustainable raw materials we use to make our products. This includes committing to sourcing 100% of our cotton, polyester, leather, down feathers, and cardboard from more sustainable sources.
When designing the Exhale Collection, PUMA made thoughtful decisions around sustainability by using eco-conscious materials, such as at least 70% recycled polyester, and by fully offsetting any unavoidable emissions.
The collection is made for those who want to make a more mindful space – spiritually, mentally, and environmentally, without losing any performance benefits. It includes a high waist full tight, studio bra, knit cover up, crop top, boyfriend-inspired tee, leotard, and a jogger – all in a neutral color palette.
The RE:SUEDE experiment is a pilot in circularity, and today’s ultimate expression of the next generation SUEDE – with the ambition to set new standards of sustainability for the iconic shoe. Designed to help address the challenge of waste management in the footwear industry, the RE:SUEDE experiment will allow PUMA to take more responsibility when it comes to tackling the ‘after life’ of its products. The pilot will launch in January 2022, offering 500 selected participants in Germany the chance to join PUMA on its experimental journey towards circularity.
PUMA x FIRST MILE isn’t just about turning water bottles into yarn to make product. While that’s a big part of the story, this collaboration is about social empowerment that threads together communities around a passion to do better. Each jacket within the FIRST MILE collection is made with 12-15 recycled water bottles, apparel with an average of 95% recycled plastic, and footwear with an average of 50% recycled plastic on the upper. To create even more impact, materials are also sourced from low-income communities, helping to create sustainable jobs and support local opportunity. The first collection launched in Spring 2020. Since then we have expanded the use of First Mile polyester into other products and collections.
