Using miles

Visit united.com to find out how many miles you will need for a round trip, depending on the class of service and the region of travel, on any Star Alliance airline. You can book your award trip through Austrian via united.com. Service charges may apply for reservations or changes to premium reservations, depending on the date of ticket issuance, the date of travel and MileagePlus status. Award tickets cannot be issued at the airport. The fare is the basic fare for the ticket plus airline charges, excluding government charges and fees. If tickets have not been purchased in US dollars, we will convert the purchase price to US dollars and then calculate the number of miles you will earn. The other fare classes do not earn miles. United and Austrian reserve the right to change eligible fare classes at any time and without notice. Mileage accrual is subject to United's MileagePlus program rules and, as provided herein, mileage will be credited according to the MileagePlus Program terms and conditions in effect at the time of travel, not at the time the air travel was purchased, scheduled or reserved, and the miles in question may not be awarded for certain tickets or awarded in a lesser amount than shown. Award miles accrued on code-share flights are based on the airline operating the flight and its equivalent fare class. This could result in differences between the purchased booking class and the flight booking class, which determines the number of base miles and Premier qualifying credits earned.
