WHAT IS AND HOW DOES THE I AMSTERDAM CITY CARD WORK?
The I amsterdam City Card is an access card to over 60 tourist attractions in Amsterdam. But not only that! In addition to free access to the main museums in the city, it includes free and unlimited public transport (inside Amsterdam. The journey from the Airport to the city is not included), cruise through the free Amsterdam channels in addition to free gifts and discounts at various attractions.
To use at attractions, simply present your I amsterdam City Card at each attraction. Tickets are valid for single admission, unless some information on the website says otherwise.
In transport, pass your City Card in front of the optical reader of any bus, tram or metro to register your entry. When you leave, re-pass the card in the optical reader to register your departure. Don't forget this step when you leave, as it is very important and mandatory!

Your I amsterdam City Card is automatically activated when you use it for the first time at any free attraction. After activation, it is valid for 24, 48, 72, 96 or 120 hours, depending on your purchase.

"Ah, but I found it very expensive!"
Calm! Expensive is what you don't use! To know if it's expensive for you, let's go to the accounts?
I AMSTERDAM CITY CARD: WORTH IT?
In a first time in the city, if you enjoy history, museums and want to enjoy the city as a whole, you should do the following activities:
Van Gogh Museum - € 19
Rijksmuseum - € 19
Nemo Science Museum (especially if you have children) - € 17.50
Boat trip on the canals of Amsterdam - from € 13 (with more expensive options and periods)
Use public transport - Unlimited transport pass in Amsterdam (Amsterdam Travel Ticket): 1 day: € 17 | 2 days € 22.50 | 3 days: € 28
Note: I will not include the Anne Frank House here, as it is not included in the I Amsterdam City Pass. But it is a very worthwhile attraction!
Let's consider that you are going to buy the 24h or 48 hour ticket in the city to do the basics: Adding the attractions and activities that I put above, it gives € 85. Which already exceeds the value of the I and Amsterdam Card of 24 and 48 hours.
But remember that this is the minimum. There are many other must-see attractions free of charge with the City Pass, such as the Stedelijk Museum, Rembrandt House Museum, Amsterdam Museum, Cobra Museum of Modern Art, Eye Filmmuseum, Hermitage Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans Windmills (in addition to transportation to Zaanse Schans),…
In addition to many discounts at great restaurants, bike rentals, at the MOCO museum, and many other things!
In other words: I amsterdam City Pass: is it worth it?
In my opinion, yes! If I am going to use public transport and visit these attractions, it is very worth it!
WHEN IS THE I AMSTERDAM CITY CARD NOT WORTH IT?
When you have very little time in the city and can only choose 1 or 2 attractions above to visit. Or when you are in the city for the second or third time and already know everything that interests you, and do not want to visit again. There really is no point, it is better to buy the ticket on the site or on the site, or enjoy the city without getting into anything.
